Math placement exam?

Is it necessary to "study" for the math placement exam?
If I completely fail it, I'll just be placed into the lowest math class, right?
I'm not going to be rescinded or anything, am I?

Thanks!

no…its a joke

haha mine had answers circled, granted some answers were wrong, but it is extremely easy.

No way! Haha.

So it’s not anything like the SATs?

Is it necessary to take the math placement exam? I didn’t sign up and I’m entering as a pre-psych major.

I’m worried about this math placement exam. I’m not math savy. The highest level math I took was elementary calculus, back in junior year, and then in senior year I took AP Statistics and found that easy, but it didn’t really involve much math at all. Uhh, so is it still necessary to study for this placement exam? I only managed 580 for SAT 1 and 2 math as well.

I wouldn’t worry about the math placement exam. The worst that could happen is that you have to retake a class that you took during highschool.

I would really rather not be forced to waste time though. Uhh, if I found this diagnostic test difficult, [California Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project](http://mdtp.ucsd.edu/crtest/) , does that mean i’m screwed? Difficult as in I have to show alot of work to get through the problems, and take alot of time to get the correct answers.

How long/how many questions is it?

wow coldness, we’re in the same boat

I remember taking it last year. I did it without a calculator because I forgot it in my room and didn’t want to walk all the way up to my room. Some answers I couldn’t answer without the calculator, but the entire test was a joke. I didn’t take math Senior year and I did pretty poorly in Math in HS. Everyone finishes early, there is no calculus on it, and the first half of the test is a complete joke while the last half is fairly easy.

I think the first question I had was like 9^2. And all you need to get in order to not be put into the lowest class is like a 30 something if I remember right. I think it was a 31/50 or something, but noone should worry about this.

The math diagnostics on their website ripped me apart though, sadly. That’s why I’m worried about this, alot of obscure questions that I don’t know the tricks to.

ohhh azngamer54, you make it sound pretty simple but that makes me worry more now…ahahaaha. Sounds a little too easy? =/ But, I did talk to the supervisor of AAP and she said the same thing so maybe I’m just worry about it too much. She said if you’ve taken Calculus, you should be more than fine.

Sigh.
