I called City to ask for the results and they said I got into Elements of Calculus.

This is a problem because I'm in the engineering program and need to be put in Calculus I because the former is for biology and economics major.

Again, I called more than a handful of times and no one could answer whether or not I could be placed in Calculus I instead of Elements of Calculus. Someone told me it'd would take longer for me to complete everything as Elements of Calculus is a lower class than Calculus I, but in the course description it says I can only get credit for only one of those classes. That makes no sense, the guy said I had to take the class, but if I do, I cannot take Calc I, hence I really can't take any classes I'm suppose to for the program.

So, I guess what I'm asking is there anyway to "bypass" the results and be put in Calc I regardless? Honestly, if not, I don't see how I can do anything asked of from the curriculum. Has any of you had this experience?

I'm already taking a calc class in school, normal, not AP.

I'm getting sick of City, and I'm not even officially a student. The staff are USELESS.

I have also sent around 5 emails asking them different questions. Gaslin Osias, “my admissions counselor” does not answer emails. The school’s various departments do not answer emails.

You should go to the school in person, rather than posting online or calling.
Go to Steinman Building (engineering building) 2M, and speak to a representative, or Rawlins R. Beharry. Make an appointment if possible.

He’s the Director, Office of Student Development
Email: beharry@ccny.cuny.edu • Tel: 212-650-8040

Thanks for the answer, but he’s the guy that told me that it would take me longer to finish the program. I’ve called him already, and he really didn’t know what to say besides that.

You need to call 212-650-8040 and ask to make an appointment to see Rawlins Beharry and/or speak directly to him. Rawlins Beharry will give you the best advice for your case. You may not have spoken to him directly and the advice that he will give to you will be realistic and pertinent to your case, so you need to make sure that you call that number directly and make an appointment with reference to your case.

If your orientation is in a few days that’s fine. Otherwise, I STRONGLY OPPOSE that idea if you are a NYC resident. During orientationk, there will be many students signing up for classes and it is difficult to get things done if there are other problems. Once you enter college, you need to understand that getting things done ASAP is the key to success, inclduing getting your problems sorted out.

So please take your chance as soon as possible. It’s better to get ur stuff sorted out now, even if it’s just as simple as asking the date of ur orientation.
Hundreds of incoming and current students will be taking Calculus so seats are really valuable.
