Does the math placement test whether you can skip Calc or simply advance to it? And how hard would the test be? Is it like calc AB? or BC level?

And how would you compare the Biology placement test to an AP or IB biology test?

Yes, if you get a high enough score on the math placement test, then you can waive out of Calculus. But the test is fairly short (only 30 questions), which get progressively more challenging. There is a sample test in the pamphlet they send out about the school, prior to you attending orientation. My son was waived out of Calculus as a result of this test.

Just remember, though, that if you are considering transferring, you may still end up needing to take one or both Calculus courses (M119 and M120) in order to apply as a transfer.

I don't know anything about the Biology test, since my son didn't take that one.

I didn't think the math placement test was that hard...I think I got 23 or 24 correct and I did nothing to prepare for it. I placed into M211, and that was the only calc class i had to take (thank god)...if you received good grades in math in high school I really wouldn't worry about it. Maybe glance over the sample test, but I wouldn't stress about it.

I took the chem test so I don't know anything about the bio test, sorry =-)
