hey, i was just wondering if any of you are in engineering and took the cornell math exam to place out of calc 3 (math 192) at orientation last year? is it harder than the class math 192 or easier? how in-depth was it? did they give any forumulas? any information would be appreciated, thanks

good to see a math 192 skipping buddy : ) so some information here "Briefly, though, there will be a Math Placement Exam Meeting on Friday, August 17th, from 3-4 in Malott Hall. All entering Freshman are eligible to take the exam, and there is no pre-signup for it. The exam will be held Sunday, August 19th at 10:15 a.m. " so you can ask questions at the aug 17th meeting.

i dont think that im going to be at cornell by then... would you mind posting the most important info you find out at the meeting?? id really appreciate it, im worried about this test

the test was hard. then taking the class was hard, too (even though i already took calc 3 in HS). Thinking back, i think the placement test was a little more straightforward than then tests in the actual class, but that doesn't make it any easier. it had a problem on about every major topic in the course.

no formulas. No calculators.

no formulas! outrageous.. Math IB exam had a 12 pages formula booklet. Also I dont know if I will be there as well. If I do I will post it here.

i took the test last year and passed it.
it's pretty hard, i thought i failed it when i walked out.
no formulas, no calculators
if you cant make it to the test date, you can set up an appointment to take the test (this is what i did after taking 192 for 2 weeks)
