Math Placement Test?

I want tobe a psychology major- I am not good at math My brother is a sophmore and he deid not take it seriously and has to take intermdiate algebra now and then finite math- Should i get help with it or just take the intermediate math

I see some people are talking about getting it done before orientation…will they let us know about this? Pre-med has to go up to calc 1 I believe and thats the class I’m currently taking, so can I take my placement test sometime soon so I do well on that portion??

what’s the difference between EXCEL math placement test vs. the regular test? Just wondering…

didn’t even know excel had a separate test?

I didn’t know either but…
According to this:
Redirecting...;

hmm. we should hear back from excel within two weeks for the first step in admissions correct?

My d never got Tge email with her info. Is tgere practice rest? I’m not good at msth and my b had to take intermed alg before he can take college alg. Because he did so badly

sifantic> I think so, but wait there’s more? That was just the first step? what else needs to be done? what you plan to major in btw? I also applied to Excel, on nov 2 actually. The status viewer thing doesn’t work for me. -_- I check it almost every day and for the past two days it said:

You are not allowed to access this file. Check frontend_dev.php for more information.

Great…-_- it updated but it now says:

The EXCEL Admissions Committee will begin reviewing applications on December 15. Please check back for your status after that time.

I know I’ll have to take a placement test for math. Math has always been my worst subject, and my 16 on the math portion (For the ACT) only increases that impression. Do you know when/how they will ask me to take the placement? I don’t plan on majoring in anything math related, but I know they want you to complete ‘X’ amount of math related classes. I’ve been accepted to summer term of 2012, but am out of state. Would they expect me to take it here, in illinois, at a local community college, a bit later in the year? I’m putting down my $200 deposit fee this weekend. Any help would be great!:)

If only they considered reading important:/ A struck a 30 on that portion. Apparently, reading isn’t required in every day life.

Im majoring in biomedical sciences(micro/molecular biology) for a pre med career. as for excel we have to wait till december to be offered to take the excel math placement… but that’s ok because I’m in calc now so the longer I wait the more i know lol. I got that same error too though

-write, they make all incoming freshman take the math placement exam to determine what level course you “should” start in. There are ways to circumvent the course your assigned but the test is manditory before orientation

Ah, now I don’t feel so bad that I have to take it:) That’s one test I won’t do well on. Not trying to be negative-just realistic. I enjoyed math, until it started hooking up for the Alphabet, which was a LONG time ago. I don’t mind taking lower level math classes-If it keeps me out of calculus, then my goal is accomplished!:)

Do we take the math placement test at UCF or at our home? And I’m trying to set up a date for orientation, but it only shows dates for spring 2012 not summer 2012. Help?

Help… Please

Kyle, I don’t think they’ve opened that option yet. I will bet that they won’t allow you to sign up for orinetation until the housing application comes out, which isn’t until late august/early decemember. I still have to put my deposit down! I think I’ll send them a check, in the mail. I hate using my parents credit card…

For those who applied to the EXCEL program I spoke with the director last week and the math placement test is the same one as the one you get notified on your MY UCF page. Per the director in EXCEL there is no reason to have a student take 2 placement tests.

On another note has anyone received scholarship money from UCF. I was accepted to USF and received scholarship money but heard that UCF is still evaluating their applicants for this. Has anyone been awarded any money yet?

Any day now(started mid nov). I wish they were like USF in this regard, but hey, maybe they’re more selective?

I emailed UCF (about something related), they said no one has received any Pegasus scholarships yet.

I checked MY UCF this morning and saw that i was awarded the Pegasus Silver for FL Resident Scholarship. It didn’t show any amount just gave me the option to to ACCEPT or DECLINE it. I phoned them and they indicated that the letters went out in the mail early this week so that I should be receiving my scholarship info soon and it tells you exactly what has been offered to you. I agree I wish they were more like USF in that matter because their scholarship offer came right along with the acceptance letter.
