math placement test

If you score lower than the math class you want to take, does that mean you can't take it?

Generally, yes. It also means you’re not ready for the higher math class. You could also try contacting the math department for an override.

Or you have to take the pre-reqs for the math you want to take.

Question: I’m a transfer student who has completed an equivalent to MATH 103 (college algebra) and got an A in that course. The next (and final) math course i want to take is math 124 (survey of calculus). Do I even need to take a placement exam as a transfer who has taken the pre-req to math 124?

I don’t believe so but I would contact an advisor to make sure.
