So I’m interested in taking Calc 1, but before taking the placement test could anybody tell me what sort of things are going to be on it? I know it’s going to be pre-calc, but like how many questions or what sort of topics? I’m just a little concerned because I took Calc AB this year, but didn’t take the AP test and so I haven’t practiced pre-calc since basically two years ago. Any input would really help. Thanks!
I just took both the calc 1 and 2 tests last night. I thought calc 1 was very straight forward and easy. It’s just a lot of algebra 2. Examples: inequalities, factoring, dividing polynomials, and little trig. I wouldn’t worry about it at all. There were 25 questions with 2 hours, but I was never rushed for time. Maybe consider taking the calc 2 test bc I just recently took dual credit calculus and it was honestly pretty simple with basic derivatives and whatnot. Good luck!
@radison405 Thanks so much! Just for further clarification - there weren’t any conics, complex numbers, or matrices on the Calc 1 test? Thanks again!
@ForwardAlways Nope not all!
If you could retake the test you could do better. Sometimes we just need refresh the subjects we learned. I used How To Ace The COMPASS Exam online book and was easy and simplified to review only in few pages. You could place in college-level courses. I bought it from here http://acethecompass.com/product/how-to-ace-the-compass-exam/ The ebook also included the actual test. Hope it helps
