Can anybody tell me how difficult the math placement test is for ucsb? maybe compare it to the SAT II math level 2. If I fail the test is it possible to retake it? Also, I took the AP Calculus BC test, which could exempt me from the placement tests... so what will happen if i fail the placement test but I get a score that exempts me?

if you took ap calculus I can tell you right now that you'll be fine. And I'm pretty sure you can't "fail" you simply get placed into your appropriate level. Just try your best and you'll be fine.

do transfer students need to take the placement exam also?

no transfer students should have completed a math class

Just making sure, but the math placement test is only required for certain majors.

I believe if you have a high enough score from the BC test you should be skipping Math 3A and possibly 3B, and going directly to 3C. And you are not required to take the test. I'm not sure how it would work with the other math 34 series.

The test is cake compared to the BC test. I took it 4 years ago but from what I can remember it was mostly basic geo, alg, trig, and maybe a little calc.
