math placement test

Is the math placement test required? I am not a science or math major. I am in ERC so I know there are a couple of science and quantative and formal skills ge classes, but do I have to take the math placement test in order to take those classes?

It depends on how you did on your SAT II for math (if you took it) or how you did/will do on your AP Calc test

yeah, I am not in ap calc and I got a 520 on the math section. Math is my weak point, but I don’t plan on taking any math courses in college, so do I still have to take it?

Although your GEs do not state that you must take math (although it is an option for formal skills), you should be careful as to which classes you are going to take for GEs. Some courses require math as pre-req in order to take the class. So you do not necessary have to take the placement test, but you should see whether any classes you are interested in require math as a pre-req. If not, then you do not have to take it.

I took the exam the night before attending my orientation and it was fairly easy. I didn’t take AP Calc in high school nor did I take the SAT Math IIC but i scored above 700 on the math portion of the actual SAT I. The results come up on some website that they tell you and it basically just says your cleared to take MATH 10A or MATH 20A and what your weak points are based on that diagnostic.

Where do you take the exam?
