Math Placement Tests

Do I have to take the math placement tests? And, are math classes required?

I really can't stand math, I mean it was okay until it stopped making any sense whatsoever. I'm not aiming to be a future mathematician, nor do I want to major in anything involving mathematics. I'm more of a language/ political science/ English person.

However, I am worried that I may need to take math classes, and in order to take those classes, a math placement test is required.

So, my question (as states above) is; are math classes required for all majors or can you do without them?

Thank you for your responses

You can easily get by without taking a math class. The only requirement is that you have a 5 credit "Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning" class. However, this is fairly broad; for example, you can take Intro to Microecon and satisfy this requirement.

To fulfill your "Areas of Knowledge" reqs, you will have to complete some Natural World credits (I think 20 of them, so 4 classes). Once again, though, this is fairly broad and you can take interdisciplinary sciences to fulfill this. This req is even easier to fill if you're in honors, since you only have to take a few Honors Core science classes.

There are no math requirements for languages and english. I'd have to double check Poli Sci to see if there is a required Stat class, but I don't think there is. If you take econ you should be fine without a math class.
