Math Placement

Does anybody have any idea about what the math placement test is like? As in, are there different sections, how long is it, what is the pattern?

Years ago when I took it I think it was 35 questions with something like a two hour time limit. It tested everything from basic algebra all the way up through differential equations. This was also paper-based (I hear it’s now electronic), so you were on the honor system for taking the appropriate amount of time.

I had taken Calc AB and BC and got a 5 on each, so I thought the test was relatively straightforward. Finished with a lot of time to spare, and wound up getting placed into Calc 3d. My friends that struggled a bit with the test were placed into earlier classes. If you try to cheat on the exam, you’re only going to cheat yourself if you get placed into a class higher than you can deal with.

Was it a multiple choice paper for you? Or subjective?

RacinReaver: It is now electronic. My S took it in summer 2008.
