Math Placement

I'm making this post just in case anybody on CC going to UD next year is like me...with graduation coming up and final projects to finish, I admit that I haven't been checking the Be a Blue Hen site regularly like UD had said to. So I got a bit of a shock today when, on a whim, I signed in and realized that I had to take the math placement exam by June 10. A bit of a shock, but I'm just glad I realized now and not, say, June 11. So, just a bit of a public service announcement in case anybody else was unaware of this.

I know there are exceptions to this rule for students from far away, international students etc. it just helps with registration to have it done as early as possible - it's actually kind of a favor to you to have it done so early.

it says that if u get above a 3 on AP Calc you dont need to take it. But we don't find out till july what we get so what are we supposed to do?

Take it. The calculus one(for engineers, science majors, etc) is really easy. I don't know about the other one but from what I've heard from friends that was way easy as well.

are we required to take it? if not what are the benefits? whats it for?

The site says something about if you are going into a field that isn't math or science oriented to take the standard placement and if you are to take the calculus one.

What if I am going into a non-math/science field but want to possibly (depending on july's scores) use AP Calc credits - Would I still take the standard math placement exam??

This is what one of the professor told me: "just take the math placement exam, and if we accept your AP Calculus score in July, we'll cancel your math placement exam score. I dont know what's going on!!! >_<
