Math Placement

Hey guys,

So I just checked what I placed into from the Math Placement Exam and it says I've been placed in Math 8B. I don't know if that is good for me because I think this is Pre-Calculus and I've already taken AP Calculus this year. Could I have placed better than this? Like 9A? If I pass my AP Calculus AB test with a 3+, would I get placed into Math 9A/9B? Thanks in advanced.

i dunno about the AB test but for BC
9B if you pass the test with 3
9C if you get 4+

Yes, same thing happened to me. I got placed into something like Pre-Calculus, but I took AP Calc as well. I ended passing it and got bumped into Math 9B.

Er, what if you only get the AP results to the college after orientation? Will they still bump you?

Yeah, getting it after orientation is fine. I forgot how I sent it in, but just make sure that the school receives your score.

Ha thanks, I was getting kinda nervous

okay just so i can get this straight too
i have to take the math placement exam tomorrow just in case… but i took ap calculus this year. im pretty confident i passed with at least a 3, but i wont know until after orientation. i just took the practice exam and did pretty bad on it so will i be placed in a course based on my placement exam or my AP scores? (honestly this geometry stuff i did in 8th grade… and its completely forgotten hahaha)

Well, according to what I’ve seen so far, you’ll get bumped up after they receive the scores…

Only problem I think there might be is that the class might be full? Or is this usually not an issue with math classes

There shouldn’t be a space issue for math (or English, for that matter) classes. Not every one takes math at the same level at the same time. I think there’s always a few classes open because they know these are core requirements.
