Math Question Compilation for June 2008 SAT

wat was the 0<x<2<y question?

i put something like (xy/y-1) < 1 or something

I think the answer was something like y-x > 0...i forget.

Does Collegeboard know that these discussions take place? I'm sure they don't expect people to follow the rules and stay quiet. I mean if friends want to talk about answers, nothing will stop them. It's not like they'll chase after smart people like us(anyone who puts the time to go on a SAT forum) and cancel our scores because we discuss answers; that would put a very bad image on them.

^Why would their punishing us for explicitly breaking the rules put a bad image on them?

^ lol...good question.

and wait...we're breaking the rules? If so, then why does CC allow it (not that I mind)...but you'd think they'd ban the threads.

they ban threads while hawaii and alaska are still taking the test (yes, hawaii and alaska are people) so that no one has an unfair advantage, which I think is the main priority of the SAT (perhaps another reason they don't litigate against CC for allowing us to discuss the test)

It would sure look bad if you look at it like this:

A bunch of studious and hard working people work together to prepare for the SAT, and they get good scores(at least they think they did, or they got good scores on their previous tests), and discuss about the test they just took because they're all excited about it, and then CC cancels all their scores. Collegeboard doesn't want to look like a police force that will attack anyone who discusses the test. Then people will just hate the SAT and CollegeBoard.

Don't people hate the SAT and CollegeBoard already? I thought that was a given...they really don't have all that much to lose ;) j/k

did anyone send the CB a fax or letter about this question yet?

@ Rahoulv...

I honestly don't think anyone would care (definitely not enough people to make CB look like a police force).

And besides, why shouldn't they be able to enforce their rules and punish those who break them?
