This is an ACT question, but I'm posting it here. Too bad.

55) If (x-7) is a factor of 2x^2 - 11x + k what is the value of 'k'?

The back of the book says "If (x-7) is a factor, then there would have to be another factor (2x+b).."

WHAT IS THIS '2X+B'??

Thanks :)

That would be the b in the quadratic formula: [The Quadratic Formula Explained](The Quadratic Formula Explained | Purplemath)

In this case, b is 11.

Thanks, but how did they get ‘2x+b’ from the formula??

Still a bit confused

^ only 2x * x = 2 *(x^2)
