Math Question

The explanation that CB gave for this question takes up my entire screen and is overly complicated; it made me more confused than the question itself. If you can find a simple way to solve it, I would appreciate it.

If n/(n-1) * 1/n * n/(n+1) = 5/k for positive integers n and k, what is the value of k?

a. 1
b. 5
c. 24
d. 25
e. 26

My first instinct was to simplify the left side to n/(n-1)(n+1).... not sure how to progress from there since you have 2 unknowns.

Lol just plug in 5… k = 24

You did all the work!

How do you know that it’s in the simplified form? Sorry if I am overcomplicating it.

Forget that last post, it was pretty dumb. It seems so simple now, sometimes I wish the SAT math involved something past 9th grade XD

Yea lol. A lot of these questions are easier than you think - the answer is right in front of you!
