Math requirement

I'm trying to get into a math class tomorrow to fill my IGETC requirement. But after re-reading the course catalog, I need to place into the class by passing the level 3 math placement exam (which I have) on top of already having taken Math 060 and 080 (2 easy elementary algebra and intermediate algebra courses for me...).

Did most of you have this requirement at your CCs before you could take the IGETC transferable math course? I think it sounds ridiculous, and I hope it's not the case. Otherwise I won't be able to transfer this fall.

ugh i've been accepted into UCI and UC Santa Cruz too. i'm worried now.

My school has the similar sort of requirements for adding math classes. But it really depends on what you received on your placement scores. I didn’t need to take any remedial or algebra to go ahead and take my major prereqs such as Calculus since I placed into it.

Talk to a math dean/professor. Also, counselors can waive any pre-reqs if you can convince them.

GL!

I missed placing directly into tranferrable math by 1!!! point on my placement test. They would not waive it, so I retested… 2 POINTS away the second time! ■■■!

That was a few semesters ago, but hey, it sucked!

thx all. i’m a little less worried now…

Oh I just used my high school honors pre calc for placement into calc… I didn’t get the placement through the test, but my counselor said it was ok since I had an A in h.pre calc.
