Math requirements for Computer Science!!?

I have all the requirements met to transfer to any UC except the Math requirements! I have taken all the the coding, physics and calculus. all i have left is linear algebra and differential equations! Does that make a difference or do i need to waste half a year at CC for 2 math class? Some people said, they will just let you take it there?? is that true?

Talk to someone in the UC admissions, or at your CC. They would be able to give you an honest answer on this.

Yeah, for the higher-ranked schools (I am guessing UC is Cal-Berkeley), it is better to ask an admissions transfer person as some of the elite schools won’t just take any course from any school.

Note: I didn’t know that UC still requires Diff Eq for their CS degree. Most schools have dropped that requirement.

There are 9 UC campuses…

Some have CS only under an engineering division, so requiring differential equations is not surprising. Berkeley offers it under both its College of Engineering and College of Letters and Science, but linear algebra and differential equations are a combined course which is required for either CS major. Transfer students have to complete the equivalent of that course, whether it is one or two courses at their current college.

Example for Berkeley L&S CS for transfers from Laney College:
[ASSIST Report: LANEY 13-14 UCB Articulation Agreement by Major](http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=LANEY&ria=UCB&ia=LANEY&oia=UCB&aay=13-14&ay=13-14&dora=CS-AB)

For the OP’s question, they may be more lenient if the course is not available at your current college. But linear algebra and differential equations are widely available at California community colleges and other colleges, so they may be less willing to give you slack here.
