AGH help! which subject test, level 1 or 2 should an only so-so math student take???
i have done well in precalc this year, like A's and B's but all the questions i have seen for Level 2 seem so hard!! my sat math is like a 650 so math is clearly not my strong subject. people say level 2 is scored on a easier scale, but would it help me????? i really dont want to get below a 650 or it could hurt my college app!!! what should i do? any prep advice for either??

GRADE INFLATIONS, lol
A's and B's but 650 on SAT I math and finding SAT II math hard???

no comment anymore. all i have to say is stick to 1c and be meticulous in circling the bubbles and reading the questions

Just try IIC, its easier than you think. If you dont like it then take IC but I really think you should try IIC. Oh, supposedly the review tests are ALOT harder than the real thing so dont rely on that. Just pretend its like SAT I math without any trick questions...

:)

Most schools aren't too thrilled w/ the 1c i believe, at least competitive ones. If you're worried about getting a low score, take both. Although they will show up on the transcript, you don't have to put them on your app if you don't want.

lots of schools don't even require a math sat ii do they? i didn't take one and got into multiple top 20 schools.

I thought they were going to get rid of IC soon? Wait...now I'm confused...is this not true?

Many schools will not accept the IC, including all the UC's. definately take IIC. You can omit half and still get a 630.

The University of California system and a few other engineering programs will not accept the Math Level 1 (the new name for the IC). But most schools still gladly accept it.

I agree, though, that you should give the Math Level 2 a shot. It's a much harder test on a raw level, but it is scaled more leniently so that a 700 on Math 1 means the same as a 700 on Math 2.

Check out http://www.compassprep.com/subject_tests for schools that require Math Level 2 (or Subject Tests at all).

you can get sooo many wrong on the math 2c and still get an 800...I think last time it was like 7 or 8. you should definately go for the 2c...just study your trig. and functions and other pre calc stuff and you'll be fine!
