Math & Science classes/ Difficulty level?

Hi im gonna be a an incoming freshman this fall at ERC and I just had a few questions about the difficulty level of the math and science classes and which ones I should take..

Math Question:
I was placed into Math 10A from the placement test, but I am a HumanBio major and I was wondering if I should just take Math4 first quarter and then jump to the Math 20 series? (the pre req for Math20 is taking Math4) or should I just stick with Math10A?

Chem Question:
I took an Honors Chem class my junior year in Highschool and I got an A both semesters, but my memory of it is a bit blurry and I was wondering what the difficulty level of Chem6A is like? Should I just take Chem4 and be more prepared or would I be okay with starting off with Chem6A? I heard Chem6A is the starter class for most students...

Thanks for the help! :)

You can stick with Math10A for Human Biology.

Try Chem6A, though.

I bet you can take Math 20 if you have taken the high school equivalent of Math 4. If think you might ever switch to a more technical major, taking the 20 series would be safer.

so i have never taken Chem… is it a big deal to skip Chem 4 and go straight to Chem 6A??

i took chem like 3 years ago and i remember little to nothing. i would take chem 4 but i heard it takes up a looot of time. this info was in the ‘advise from your OLs site’

I know someone who took Chem 6A without ever having taken Chem before. She got an A, but she was smart.

The entire chem series is really just practice practice practice

Do enough problem sets and you should do fine

The people who complain about chem are the ones who blow off hw thinking it isn’t important

Oyama is 100% correct. Take chem6 if you are actually willing to work. The people that complain about it are usually the reject premeds that have no idea why they have to take chem since they are a bio major.
