I was wondering if anyone who had engineering experience (especially in CS, CE, or EE) could give me their opinion on which classes I would be the most useful for me to take as my Math/Science Technical Electives. They are at University of Maryland | Electrical and Computer Engineering Department under category A. I only need to take 2 classes from that list, but if more classes than that are very useful I can try to fit them in my schedule. Thanks

NB: Did not read the course list and I am only a high school jr.

Focus on how your electives would fit into where you want to go into a career or grad school.

Do you want to focus on algorithms? Or VLSI? Or signal processing?

Just like with college apps, employers/grad schools want to see a focus on one subject instead of a smattering of different electives.

Ya I get that I should take electives to focus on what I like, but I am not sure what Math and Science classes would be useful. I am thinking of going more of the signal processing route if that matters.

Calc III and Differential Equations might be good ones to take. But honestly just take whatever you want - they’re not requirements for a reason - none of them individually will be absolutely necessary to your degree.

Calc III isn’t required for you? Wow, that is uncommon. It may be worth taking. Also, maea, he would has already taken differential equations. The one on that list is partial differential equations, which is a lot less useful to most people.

I thought that Calc 3 would be required, but since it wasn’t I wasnt sure if I would ever use it or if any of the other courses were important also. Thanks

Calc III would be useful since most real world problems involve multiple variables.

Ok thanks. I will be sure to take Calc 3
