i heard that med schools place emphasis on your math/science GPA, not just your science GPA. is this true?

? (10 char)

Isn't math included in your science GPA?

It's not really a "science" GPA...

It's BCPM, biology, chemistry, physics, math. So yes, math is included in there as well.

your BCPM can be higher then you GPA if you better in science and Math classes then lets say English and social science class.
if thats the matter then at admission time would they look at you BCPM gpa or you regular gpa?
Of course both are important but is it better if a student was to put more effort in Science and Math courses then English or whatever as long as he/she passes with a "B-" or something?

BCPM and Overall GPA are generally considered about equally important, but don't forget that BCPM classes are included in both GPA calculations, meaning that they're **triple **weighted.

B- isn't a very good grade, and the average GPA for med school matriculants is pretty high. For example, the overall GPA median for accepted applicants to UCLA is 3.82, and the BCPM GPA median is 3.83. That's between an A- and A average. You could still do well in the application process with a B- or two (maybe even more, depending where you apply) but please don't think that you can neglect the non-science classes.
