I dont know what to do!!! I really dont, and its so depressing because I am applying to competetive schools such as schools in the Ivy League and I know how important a good SAT score is. But really, I have no idea what to do about the math section of the SAT. I took the june adnimistration of the exam and let me tell you, the ONLY section i studied for was math. Really, I study for MONTHS on nothing but math! I still got a 560! HOW? I just finished Pre Calculus honors and got a B+! I've never gotten less than a B in math in my whole educational career! Still on the critical reading i got a 670 (which sucks, I know, but I honostly hadnt prepared or even considered preparing for that section at all) and a 740 on the Writing! HOW????????? I STUDIED MY BUTT OFF!!!! What can I do?? I MUST be doing something wrong because its not like I have this loong history of bad grades in math or something to explain my low SAT score in that section. True, I only studied that section because my only B's tend to be in math, but STILL... a 560??? HELP ME!!!

grab a couple of SAT books and drill through the math sections and then review your answers. then try to go faster in solving them.

yeah, get books :Blue book, Barron's, PR 11...
do lots of tests and review the key concepts you need to know. I got 580 on my first try...the last SAT I took I got 690 is Math.

bump......

SAT math scores have no relationship to math grades. The UC study that forced the New SAT into existence clearly showed that there was no relationship between these two variables, if anything there was a slightly negative relationship (higher math SAT, lower math grades).

So the take home message is: prepare for the SAT. I am not sure what you did for prep, but a good starting point is "Up your Score" and get the Blue book as well.

Also, remember that a lot of students take the SAT more than once, b/c for many they dont get their score the first time.

Get back in the game, keep practicing, and you can go to our website (ceeae dot org) for reviews of virtually every prep book out there.

what is ceeae??

Thank you
:-)

sudan...I would get some SAT books and study those.

In response to your desire to attend an Ivy, while that is admirable, perhaps you should re-evaluate your situation. I would also apply to some non-Ivy schools.

Yeah.. im defnately not applying to ALL ivy league schools.. that would be silly and wayyy to risky
