I plan on majoring in some sort of pre-vet major (animal science, biology, etc)
I have and most likely will maintain a 4.0, and am in the top 2% of my class
I skipped a grade in math and science and ended up taking a high school level Biology and Honors Geometry class my 8th grade year, which I can bring up onto my transcript
I am looking at some highly selective schools like Stanford and Cornell

8th grade: Honors Geometry and Biology
9th: Chemistry, Honors Trig, AP Spanish
10th: AP Physics B, Honors Precalc, AP World
11th: AP Physics C, AP Calc, APUSH, AP Spanish Lit
(Obviously I took other classes, these are just the highlights. I'll have 4+ years of everything)

BUT, for my senior year I really want to take both AP Bio and AP Chem, but won't have room unless I drop math. If I were to take math, I would take AP Stats. I do really enjoy math, but AP Chem does have a fair bit, right?

Would this impact my chances at highly selective colleges?

AP Chem>AP Stats always. But no, AP Chem doesn’t mecessarily “take care of the math part”. The highest math you’ll do in there is algebra. Take AP Chem, you have everything else.

Many colleges require four years of math and not all will necessarily count your math from 8th grade even if it is on your transcript. It also looks bad to drop math all together. Could you take math at a local college (some of my friends did that after taking AP Calc as a sophomore). Contact the colleges you are interested to see if they will accept the 8th grade math.

Most selective schools want 4 yrs of Math - yes, I understand that you took Geo in 8th grade; however, many top students do that and still manage to complete another 4 high school yrs of Math. They also understand that going to a local college for that last yr of Math could be prohibitive due to time constraints and so forth. That’s why top students can easily take EPGY or another “distant-learning” alternative. AP Stats is a joke, but it does count as Math.
