I will be taking these tests at orientation.

How hard are they?

What types of questions do they ask?

I took 4 years of regular spanish in HS and went up to AP calc AB but didn't take the AP exam cause I got sick doing the test and didn't want to pay for the make-up test.

Thanks!

The Spanish placement test isn’t offered at orientation, I just checked.

I walked out of the Spanish placement test thinking I failed it. When the results came out, I had placed out of the foreign language requirement. It’s really about reading comprehension. I did 4 years of regular Spanish too, and as long as you paid attention those four years, you should be fine. None of the preparation I did for the test helped.

wait since you said they dont offer the spanish placement test orientation then when can we take it?

and you said that you placed out of the foreign language requirement, does this mean you dont have to take ANY foreign languages anymore to graduate at UCLA?

any help would be appreciated

They offer it once or twice every quarter, check the Spanish department’s page right when you move in. Last year, it was during week 0 for fall quarter and I had to take the Spanish test rather than participate in the “mandatory” volunteer day.

Yes, that is correct. You need to fulfill up to level 3 of the same language and I placed into Spanish 4, effectively saying that I know up to level 3 and am ready to take level 4.
