How hard are the math and statistics classes here, compared to science classes? Do they get harder as you get up into the upper division ones, such as Math 110 or Stat 134?

Also, I'm planning to take three math/stat classes next semester: Math 54, Math 55, and Stat 134, along with a CS class. Is this schedule manageable or is it just overkill?

Sounds like overkill to me. Unless if you are trying to graduate early, I don't see the point in cramming in classes like that. Most people benefit from balance, if a courseload is too skewed, everything suffers.

YES STAT 134 IS LIKE THE PLAGUE!! I got A's in the lower div. Stat classes an A in Calc 16A and a C in Calc 16b, I also got a 3 on the AP Calc AB and this class is KILLING ME.

If you want to keep up your GPA, either don't take this class or take it P/NP.

SAVE_YOURSELF.222!

Go to sites like Ratemyprofessors.com and look up teacher Aldous and Pitman and then look at the ratings for Stat 134. Almost everyone says that its hard.

Take Stat N21 in the summer with Prof. Stark online if it is offered again. He's universally regarded as the easiest and nicest intro stats professor.

stat 134 was pretty hard for me...probably because i took it my first semester here at Berkeley

depends on the cs class you're taking. if it's cs 61a, it's extremely easy, but if you were taking 61b with hilfinger this semester, it's a real pain.
