I got admitted by Vanderbilt as a transfer student and want to learn statistics when applying for graduate school. Vandy does not have a stats major but have math and biostats. UW-Madison has math as well as stats major, and it seems their rankings are much higher according to US News. Vandy, on the other hand, has higher overall ranking but lower ranking in math major, but it is a private institution so that more attention may be given to students. Don't know if there are any famous math profs teaching undergraduate courses at Vandy. Which one should I choose?

Are you asking about admission to the grad school? Because you seem to be talking about grad school rankings?

Yup!

I’m not sure if there will be better chances of getting into graduate with great math program if I go to Vandy instead of UW-Madison.
