Math Subject Tests for UC System

I'm definately not a math person, but I hear for UC schools you are required to take a math SAT subject test. Do they prefer mathIIc?

Regardless of whether I take mathI or IIc, I predict I'll get somewhere in low to mid 600's on either test.

Would getting a score like that on the math subject test significantly lower my chance of admissions at Berkeley even if I had a 2300 SAT and other subject tests 750+, as well as a 4.3 UC GPA?

Thanks!

they only accept Math IIC
Engineering major- math IIC is a must.

It is not a blanket requirement to have to take a subject test in Math.

The UC system asks that you take two subject tests, but does not dictate that one must be math. If you do choose math, it has to be the level 2 version. They only look at your two highest subject tests, as well, which means if you score horribly on math but well on two others, you are fine.

If you expect to underperform on the IIc test even though you did well on the math portion of the regular SAT, don't bother taking it. If you have two 750+ subject tests already, those are all that count.

l&s doesn't care which which two SAT subjects tests you take as long as they are from separate categories. You could take a language and lit and get 800s on both or you could take math2 and physics and get 800s on both, and L&S won't differentiate.

yes .

Seems like you did pretty well on the SAT I Math portion... For me, I did much much better on the SAT II Math IIC. I personally thought it was easier than the math on the SAT I lol

So who knows, you may do well on the Math IIC considering you did well on your SAT I Math...

^^^ Haha, um no, I definitely won't.

I'm a junior who hasn't taken precalculus yet, so there is no way I can do well on math IIc.
