math team

I was wonder how my son should handle this situation. He is on the math team, they just voted for two captains which was done three weeks ago. Two girls were chosen, since that time one of them has not come for three weeks.
I don't think its fair, how does my son go about this?
thanks

Not sure what he needs to handle. Does he want to replace the absent girl as captain?
I do agree that someone chosen as captain should be an enthusiastic and regular participant–not someone who fails to show up.

First, he needs to find out why she has been absent and if she still intends to participate.
Is the other captain handling things? Is there a teacher/adult supervisor for the team?
Are other team members bothered by the girl’s absence? Is there any policy regarding absences (excused/unexcused) from practices and ability to participate in competitions?
It seems the group would be discussing all of these things.

There could be a legitimate reason why she has been absent and that needs to investigated before anything. If it turns out that she’s not able to fulfill her obligations, he might express interest in taking over, but that’s TBD.

As for the voting: Did the group establish who is running for this position, so the list is somewhat narrowed and so the candidates would be able to express their interest in the position? It could be the girl who won, won by a very small margin. Maybe this became a popularity contest and that’s simply hard to change. Your son would sound like sour grapes. It’s probably best for him to discuss this issue with the club advisor.
