Math Test on CABS

Do I have to sit down for 90 minutes straight for the Math placement test or can it be broken into parts?

I just don't want to start doing it, then have to leave!

It MUST be able to be broken into parts, because my daughter has only done it parts at a time and still isn't done

Yes, you can take it in parts.

I'm curious (since none of this existed BITD). What kind of problems are presented in this test? Algebra, Trig, Geometry? Do they go into Calculus at all?

Is it more of a "real" test, or is it more SAT-like?

No....no calculus. It was four sections. It was like factoring, equations, geometry, exponents, some geometry, and some trig. Pretty much all pre-calc and below. I found myself doing a lot more calculations on paper than on the SAT.

It tests algebra, trig, geometry, and some pre-calc (each are different parts and can be taken independently). Its been about a month since I took it so I can't remember perfectly, but for pre-calc, I thought I remembered some basic taking derivatives and integrals.

To answer your question Zaphod, its more of a "real" test, multiple choice however.

No calculator use makes it a bit more difficult, though...well, you work slower and thus time becomes more of an issue. I was pretty scared after taking the practice test, but the actual tests were no big deal, in my opinion...any other thoughts?

that was not a hard test and considering I have not taken a math class in 4 years it should be easy for all of you too.

Yeah the practice test (the timed one) was more difficult in my opinion. It was more than a relief taking the real test. If I had to take pre-calc after just finishing bc calc, let's just say it would suck.
