I am at the 700/720 range for math...I have the completely potential to get the 800. Basically here's the story:

I know how to do EVERY SINGLE sat problem. Thats not the issue..The 4 or 5 that I get wrong are due to speed issues...

I finish the test with out a second to breath...As a result, the last few questions in each sections are the ones i get wrong. Now, I know what your probably thinking. Your saying to yourself "he's getting the hard questions wrong cause he just doesn't have the math aptitude". WRONG! I know how to do these problems...i just don't have the extra 2 minutes or so that I need to reason through them.

To put it short, I need tips on speed. I have already rid myself of committing careless errors. I used to get around a 650 due to careless errors. Invariably however, the strategy i used to get rid of careless errors has slowed me down a bit. Now i need to increase my speed, to get the 800.

that happens to lots of people....in fact it happens to most people...the level of math on the test is only up to Algebra II...so what hurts most people is the time factor.....my suggestion is to practice practice practice until u develop a strategy for YOURSELF....try avoiding using a calculator unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY...cuz u may end up wasting time punch in numbers that you can do in ur head and save time that way

it sounds like you do the entire test in one run, from the first question to the last... do you always know how to approach a problem the second you read it? Most people don't, and they spend time looking at a problem and thinking about how to do it and then they get it.. and that's valuable time lost for later problems.

You may or may not ever do that, but if you do, learn to skip problems where you have to "think" for method.. if you don't know exactly how to approach finding an answer right away (or if you plan to do a "look at the possible answers and use trial-and-error in some random formula"), just make a big star or circle around the number of the problem and move onto the next one. :]

I suggest u to try it simply in a reverse way (not joking at all, just try, it might work for u since ur saying that u know how to do each and every math) In this way, even if u have some 4 min left, u'd be able to get No-1 to 5 correct! U'll go the last page of the section and start doing 18,17,16............lol! (have never tried it myself, but thinking of doing it too!)

I think the best way is to just practice the math seciton under timed conditions. It kind of depends on how you approach the problem because sometimes there is an easier and faster way than the method you might think up first although either way may be right. Find the shortcuts! I always have that problem. It might help to try to eliminate answers before you begin to actually work on the problem; there are usually one or two obviously wrong answers... hope that helps~

i used to have this exact same issue with speed. all i can suggest is to keep practicing. i know this sounds cliche-like but it really works...after i finished practically the blue book practice q's i got so much faster. hope this helps!

IT OBVIOUS THAT YOUR NOT SO GREAT AT MATH THEN BECAUSE I CAN TELL I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM HAD YOU BEEN REALLY GOOD YOU MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN THE TEST DONE BECAUSE EVERY PROBLEM CAN BE DONE IN 30 SECS OR LESS I SUGGEST YOU BUY THE BARRONS MATH WORKBOOK AND THE GRUBERS WORK BOOK AND DO EVERY PROBLEM IN THERE IF YOU REALLY WANT THAT 800. ONLY THEN WILL YOU IMPORVE YOUR SPEED OR LEARN ALL THE TYPES OF PROBLEMS AND THE QUICKEST WAY TO TACKEL THEM
