I was accepted into UPenn’s College of Arts and Sciences and UCBerkeley’s College of Letters and Sciences. I am currently trying to decide between the two schools. I am also interested in pursuing a double major/minor in visual art, and possibly going into a further study of Econ in graduate school. I have been leaning towards Penn a bit more bc of Wharton’s strong graduate program and being at penn for my undergrad might help me more in the future if I decide to go in the Econ route, but I’m interested to hear some more opinions before I decide.
Both are good schools for math-heavy economics, where you can get heavier math in your economics courses as well as math courses from the math department. Here is a list of the types of courses to take to prepare for PhD study in economics: https://www.econ.berkeley.edu/undergrad/current/preparing-for-grad-school
UCB economics does require a 3.0 GPA in prerequisite courses to declare the economics major.
