<p>How good is the Mathematics Department in Notre Dame compared to other universities such as UCLA, UC Berkeley, MIT etc.?</p>

<p>I was wondering this too as I am interested in undergraduate mathematics. Some polls seem to show that Notre Dame ranks up with UCLA, UC Berkeley etc. but it seems to be missing from the rankings in events like the Putnam competition. I believe the math department gains recognition from its top ranked Mathematical Logic graduate program but I am also wondering about its reputations undergraduate and in other fields.</p>
