I am a current second year and looking at my math average, I will not be able to qualify for the MathComp major. I heavily want to pursue Computer Science. I am not very strong at math but I keep hearing it’s difficult to find jobs without that knowledge. I have gotten As in my programming classes so of course I have no problem with that.
I was recommended by the math department to look into Linguistics and Computer Science but it’s a BA and I heard that it will not be looked well upon compared to Math/Comp.
I am just looking at what would be the most successful. Being a first gen, my parents are grilling me about going into a major that’s going to pay well and fortunately I enjoy programming. Since they are paying for my tuition, they believe they have a say.
Any ideas of how I should go about this? I am currently in multivariable calc going into linear algebra next quarter but I do not know if it’ll be worth it if I do decide to pursue the BA.
Thanks in advance!
