Last year son had Calc. with Matrices both terms. His first class was with professor at Math Empo. It was mandatory that they attended as this was only formal class, emails were exchanged and she explained how the class would work. Each week, there was a unit to complete and at the end of each unit was a quiz. You could take the quiz whenever you felt ready and could run through each unit as often as you wanted. If help was needed there was help at Empo. (put red cup on computer!). Son said these people were very helpful and could usually explain things quite well. At the end of 3-4 units there would be a unit test. For my son, I think he could only do units at Empo., he could not work on it using his own computer.
At the beginning of the year (first week of term), he attended something called the Math Empo Tempo that was run by academic support. He had to sign up for this ahead of time. It explained the whole format quite well.</p>
