Hey guys! I'm in Math20D right now, and as you know, we have to do the matlab thingy.

The question is this: what is matlab? i looked on the site and I know what it means, but can someone just describe matlab in their own words with experiences, etc.

What i mean is how long does it usually take... stuff like that... a more hands-on personal experience, stuff the matlab site doesn't tell you [like if it sucks, or it's a waste of time, etc.]

thanks guys! I just want to know more about matlab so i can plan when to go, etc.

matlab is where you use a computer to do math problems. it is like simple programming and in my opinion is sucky and boring. i had no idea how to do it and just didnt even try on the final matlab quiz. the work takes at least 1-2 hours or even more depending on how much you understand and will take many pages to print out. in my opinion again, it was a great waste of time because i dont see myself doing matlab anytime soon in the future.

I disagree with prion here. Matlab does take about 2 hours if you really want to understand the material. It’s basically a very very simple version of programming.

As long as you complete the assignments, the final matlab quiz should be a breeze. It copies the problems from the homework word for word and just changes the values.

I never did the assigments at the lab since I got Matlab for my laptop but from what i hear, you can come whenever you like to work on it.
