Some background......My husband has not been able to sleep on the last 2 mattresses we purchased (good mattresses).....backaches every morning. I on the other hand can sleep anywhere (anytime too). My husband finally ordered a 4" memory foam with cooling layer topper for the bed. He is now sleeping like a baby with no backaches in the morning - this was the only time he's slept through the night and woke without a backache for many, many years

However, I discovered I can NOT sleep on foam (and I really could sleep anywhere - they make fun of me for it). This form is awful - even though it is not too hot, I sink into it and can't roll over. I feel like I am be enveloped by something. It is the most uncomfortable feeling I have ever had - just weird. And I'm exhausted the next morning because I apparently expend a lot of energy just attempting to shift my position in bed. In fact, I think I twisted my knee just trying to roll onto my side.

Other than getting rid of everything and trying a sleep number type bed, does anyone have any ideas about how to make one side of the foam mattress firm? Any thoughts on what I can place on top of my side of the foam mattress that would be firm enough to not let me sink into the bed but not be hard as plywood?

Any ideas appreciated.
