any recommendations for good store to purchase mattress?for son moving off campus .I looked online not familiar with any of the stores. thanks!

We bought a comfortable mattress at Sam’s Club in Tallahassee. You could also order a mattress from [Overstock.com: Online Shopping - Bedding, Furniture, Electronics, Jewelry, Clothing & more](http://www.overstock.com) and shipping is free for new customers.

cybermom to the rescue - again! Thx

I wish I could help but we have not bought a mattress in Tally yet. I am a fan of Mattress Giant but pulled my post when I found no stores in Tallahassee. Good luck.

I’m surprised such a city wouldn’t be loaded with these type of stores. With all the schools there and people moving in and out so often…

I have purchased mattresses at Sams Club before and they were quite decent and at a good price! I have also purchased things through Overstock.com and was happy with the quality of my purchases. Either way would be a safe bet. But with Sams at least you can touch it before you purchase! :)

This is the plan that worked for us:
My son selected and I paid for a mattress at our hometown Sears store, then with reciept in hand we quite simply (and quickly) collected the mattress at the Sears store in his college town.

Thanks for replies. HYD - i did wind up using SEARS. We are from NY. I was able to buy it online and am having it delivered during the time we are spending two days in Tally. I guess since it is long distance I did feel SEARS would offer security in case of problems. Perhaps I did pay a bit more, although they are having 50% sale.

Mattresses? Store delivery?

College means:
1.) Leaving home (425 miles away) a day or two before the scheduled start of classes.
2.) Arriving at 2 in the morning and sleeping in your car because your land lord is asleep or the leasing office is closed. This after suffering a blowout at midnight in the middle of nowhere, and having to unload the entire trunk on the side of I-75 by moonlight just to reach the spare. Didn’t realize big rigs and cars in general were so loud when passing by at 80 mph just a scant few meters away…
3.) Rolling over to Target or Walmart the next day to buy a $150 futon and then spending the next 30 minutes unboxing and disassembling it right in the parking lot so that you can somehow squeeze it into your compact car. ;)

At least, that’s how it went for me…maybe I had it all wrong. Still wouldn’t trade any of it (or the associated memories) for the world.
