My mom called housing a while back, and they said they supplied mattress toppers? Is this true?

don’t know. i bought one for my D from Kohl’s. i’d seen them for sale, but haven’t seen anything about them “being provided”

Your bed will come with a twin extra-long mattress. If you want a mattress topper, you will need to purchase your own and bring it to campus.

Most colleges provide a very thin mattress topper to sort of protect the mattress but they are not exactly what one could consider luxurious or comfortable.

@cptofthehouse: do you mean a mattress topper/pad like this one at BB&B?
Or did you have a protective mattress cover in mind?
These examples were just ones I quickly found with a google search.

@comom2013 I’ll pass on the advice to my mom
@bigredengr How are the mattresses without any extra cushioning?

The mattresses are plastic for obvious reasons. I would think it’s a great investment to get a nice mattress topper to make your bed more comfortable. XL’s are easy to find in August because of all the back to school sales.

Definitely get a nice topper, you don’t want to sleep on the mattresses alone, especially if you have a really nice mattress at home. Dorms are utilitarian, providing the basics, bring some comfort!

@spacygirl: I brought a mattress topper, and I was comfortable. I have no info about the beds without toppers, but they are definitely less comfortable without the cushioning.

One word of advice.
Don’t jump on your bed. My roomie his foot stabbed when one of the bed springs penetrated through the mattress padding. Your bed is literally a bunch of metal springs. Not the best of comforts.

My mom got one and i had a comfortable first night of sleep! Thanks for the advice!
