Mavs: 1-0
Heat: 0-1

P.S. Screw the World Cup...it's all about the NBA Finals ! ! !

I don't understand how people can be entertained by soccer.Today (not the only time), I watched like half an hour of Ecuador vs. Poland: nothing. They ran up and down the field the entire time, missed shots, and didn't accomplish anything. Things were exactly the same when I turned it off as when I turned it on 30 minutes before. Halfway through the game (I turned it off at half-time) the score was 0 to 1 (come on!). It looks grueling to run that much, and I respect that, but still it is boring as heck.

I'm no fan of basketball, but at least there is some action. Soccer is like watching a chess match.

You people are ignorant. Did you know that the World Cup is the largest sporting event in the world?? (No, it's not the Olympics, it's the World Cup).

I'm a huge basketball fan myself, but don't be hating on soccer like that. You should have watched the Germany-Costa Rica match. You would have liked the goal scoring. I do understand when you say soccer can be boring to watch. I much prefer to play, but for some reason the World Cup is just too entertaining to watch.

im sorry but ive been waiting FOUR YEARS for this occasion...and no basketball will get in the way....if it just so happens that the Mavs do win like I predicted, it will be a tiny hoorah compared to the WC

Go mavs..please beat the heat in four :o

I think that Diop needs to be more respected by people...if you actually look at him, he is REALLY good. Not many people can hang with Duncan and Shaq and get some pretty good looking blocks.

Ay... i'm going for the heat though... i dont like the way the mavs play...

go mavs!!!!!!

Who cares? That doesn't automatically qualify it for being entertaining.... I can't watch soccer, but it's fun to play.

Now on to the VERY entertaining NBA Finals.... I think it's going to be a 7 game series, and the Mavs will pull it off with 4 home wins.

What in the name of hell is the "largest" sporting event? What does that even mean?

3.2m tickets sold and the most watched event on tv. whether your living in senegal or middle of no where khazakistan, your following the world cup.

Go heat! This week is going to be great. Stanley Cup finals (I picked the Oilers to win it all, but now with Roloson injured I am doubtful), NBA Finals, and the World Cup.

Go Mavs!! I'm watching both the World Cup and the NBA finals :)

you're putting far too much emphasis on the goals scored.
that may be the way you win soccer, but that's not what it's all about.
soccer is a game of skill, precision and perserverance.
don't look for goals, look at the footwork or the distance and accuracy of their passes.
it's absolutely amazing.
soccer is a game of details; you have to notice the small things to appreciate the big things.
expecting a bunch of goals to be scored in soccer is like expecting a grand slam in a baseball game, a triple double in a basketball game, a hat trick in hockey, or a hole in one in golf.
these things just doesn't happen that often.

oh yeah, GO MAVS!

go mavs! i think i am going to tomorrows game. yay for knowing rich people :)

Go mavs. Could you guys imagine what the mavs would be like right now if they still had the trio of Michael Finley, Steve Nash the Canadian, and the 7-foot German Beast Dirk Nowitzki. Seriously, they would win like 80 of the 82 regular season games.

Finley is a poor man's Josh Howard at this point. Josh Howard has basically evolved into a slightly-below-his-prime Michael Finley. And Finley is far beyond his prime at this point.

I'll take this opportunity to remind all of you again that Desagana Diop is a game changer on the defensive end! Shaq won't get to 20 in game 2 either! All bow to Diop!

I think refs may neutralize Diop, and Shaq may break out b/c of it, but it won't make a difference b/c Dallas has too many other weapons that will step up---if it's not JET, then Dirk, Stackhouse, Howard, etc. will be the hot one.

Diop picked up 5 fouls in 12 minutes. Refs trying to hold him down! I really think he and Dampier should play together. Let Dirk man the 3, and Diop isn't strong enough to handle Shaq by himself, but Shaq has to think twice before putting any shots up against that wingspan! On second thought, maybe Avery Johnson knows what he's doing and I am blinded by my respect and fear of Desagana. The Heat muster one win, but Dirk & Co. in 5.

I am rearranging my own prediction and I think Dallas does it in 5 too... the Heat just haven't got an answer for the speed and diversity in talent of the Mavs...
