You can try to interview with a Japanese professor and see if he/she thinks you know enough to fulfill the requirement.

I vote for stat or that Imperial china course.

How hard would the interview be/how long? Has anyone done this?

Does Penn have minors?

I think you should take chinese graded if you're considering a minor in it or something.

I don't mind having Chinese graded. I've always been very good with language. It's just that fifth course... I need to plan ahead if I want to get a dual degree

Firstly you can take the SATII at Penn upon your arrival in the language office. In my two experiences the placement exam was the SATII....kinda funny huh? Anyway you can place at no fee or penalty. You can arrange a meeting or you can as you say take a course. I think you could do all of them really.

That sounds good-- go take the SAT II placement test thingie and if you place out of a language you can take chinese, but have no real obligation to. Chinese for fun heh :p

So even if I get a 650+ on a placement SAT2 I still have to interview, no?

the minor is such a small thing when you are planning dual degree...at least at this point. Chinese characters.....that is what takes the time...practicing them. But of course that is just what I know from two friends.

Is the required Stat class for Wharton called Business Stat?

Stat 001, and Stat 001 -- College kids usually take Stat 111, and Stat 112 -- so I guess that is "business stat."

Wharton students take Stat 101 and Stat 102 and it is called Business Statistics.

College students take Stat 111 and Stat 112 which is just called Statistics.

Statistics is a Wharton department, so theoretically I would guess the College track might be "business"ish, but they are NOT the same course. I've actually heard that Stat 111 and 112 are harder although I don't know if that's really true.

Can a College student take Stat 101 and 102?

Eh I doubt it fits into my schedule anyhow

Whartonalum is correct. Don't know where my mind was.

Yes College students (or Seas or Nursing) can take Stat 101 and 102 as long as you have already done/have credit for Math 104. Just make sure that it actually counts towards your graduation/degree requirements. I have no idea what College policies are...

Has anyone taken Business Stat? I just signed up for it (it just seems to be a Lecture?). If I am also taking Math 104 will I be inherently behind? What kind of math is involved? How difficult?

Nevermind I figured it out, sorry. Dropped the course lol.
