does anyone know what the exact number is?
i will have +8 honors/ap points total(10th, 11th grades), is that good or bad (2 for pre calc honors taken in sophomore year + 6 for 3 Ap’s, 2 semesters each this year)?

I think it's 4 or 8. Nothing confuses me more than UC gpa, so I guess we'll have to wait for someone knowledgable to respond

Perfect, 8 is the max.

thanks for the fast replies

one more thing though:

i take more extra regular classes (primarily in the arts, so obviously there are no honors/ap for the arts) than needed at my school, which lowers my UC gpa (approx 4.1), so are my chances affected because of this (it seems to defy logic that opting out for a free period at my school causes one's uc gpa to rise, while taking additional regular classes causes it to fall)?

No school has a higher than 4.1 average so you should be fine. There are APs in the arts, if your school doesn't offer some schools will give you AP weighting for CC classes.

UC GPA can get a little tricky if you havent read the whole uc pathways page on it.

Some people have more than 8 semesters of UC "honors" classes and therefore if they had above a 4.0 and still earned A's in the classes their UC GPA would still go down. I think it is a flaw in the UC system. Any ways GPA is NOT the most important thing for a UC app. THe most important thing is class load. IF you had more than 8 semesters of the "honors" classes than you gpa would be less but your app would still look better jus because of the harder class load.

Also "honors" classes are all transferable college classes and then the aproved honors and AP classes at you school which would be on the UC pathways website for your school list. So yes college classes also get counted in for you UC GPA. one semester a pop even if the college class was a semester long or a quarter long.

Another thing about UC GPA is when comparing all the UC approved classes with friends that you guys have taken you will see that your visual arts requirment such as tele arts and art could and will affect your gpa. Some people dont take that req. in 10th or 11th but take it 12th grade. This is another thing that gets factored in to how hard your courseload was based upon how many uc approved classes you took in 10th and 11th grade.

Airforce1, the UC approach is highly quantative and GPA DOES matter a great deal. The real issue is it's hard to have a good UC GPA if you haven't taken close to the 8 semesters in honors and APs. All but the bottom 3 UCs have average UC GPAs of 3.9-4.1. You can take all APs, but if you don't have the GPA you're not getting in.

Also, APs transfer as college credit as long as you get a 3 or above, but honors classes do not.

ya i know what u mean

just make sure u have above 4.o uc gpa

here is davis's selection process

im sure many of the other uc's use similair if not the same table.
UC addmission is number based

zaggat why did u bring up the AP test? Dont go by the UC general rule of 3 gets u credit. check for your self at each of the schools ap policy charts for specific majors

i've taken the maximum classes allowed (7 per semester) but not all of them count for a-g, for some are religion classes/p.e. that are required by my school

i've taken Percussion 1, Percussion 2, Percussion 3, in that order, by year (no percussion honors, Ap at our school).
Do i get credit for those as "beyond" the a-g requirement of one year arts?
(btw, it is a uc-approved course, except with a blue diamond)
