Got into UMich COE but my cost for OOS seems to be 29k according to the NPC. My EFC is automatically 0 according to the FAFSA and the new methodology released. Anyone else OOS with an income of lower than 50k that can give me insight as to how you afforded the cost?
UMich does not meet full need for OOS students.
Since you were accepted to Umich COE, it’s likely your stats would garner you merit aid at some private schools…where else have you applied?
Do you have any affordable options so far?
Did you actually get your financial aid package yet? If not talk to financial aid.
Yes, but I’m really trying to get somewhere with better “outcomes” if you will. I’ll see how ED2 treats me.
OK but they gave you like $35,000 or so? If so then this is a pretty good package from them but of course needs to be affordable for you also.
What does the npc say at your ed2 school?
It will be tough to beat UMuch COE outcomes…affordability will be most important for you
It’s 0-3k for my ED2 school but its a t20 so idk…
I agree that it’s pretty good. Additionally, I don’t think the NPC takes into account scholarships… Unless that goes under “grants” but I would think my cost would be even lower than what I listed.
So for OOS I don’t think there merits like what your expecting. You would of most likely known by now. If you take out the max as a freshman at around $5,000/year then you still have $24,000 to pay down. Work study realistically is about under $3,000/year so now $21,000…that’s still a lot to cover if your parents can’t pay that. Getting off campus apartments and getting off the food plan will help but just by a few thousand at most.
