Hi,

I know that CommonApp is changing and all but have they said anything about the 20 colleges limit?

Do you plan on applying to more than 20 colleges using the Common App? That will be quite a bit of work!

In years past there have been work-arounds posted on cc for the few people who found it appropriate to apply to more than the limit. After the new format comes up later this week, if you really do want to apply to more than the form allows, try asking your question again and I feel sure someone will figure out a way to do it.

The limit remains 20. Each applicant is limited to one account. If you create a second account and we discover it (which we usually do), we will close it.

I certainly wasn’t suggesting cc users would offer ways to circumvent common app rules. More along the lines of examining the OP’s list of schools carefully and offering suggestions. For example, some public unis, at least in prior years, accepted apps both through the common app and also through a different form.

Haha, as an international student requesting financial aid, the extra effort is usually required (unless we can contribute 40% or more of the costs). It’s like a lottery for us — no matter what your credentials you can get rejected everywhere and if you’re lucky enough, you somehow, magically, get into a school that would be considered a match or a safety had you been a US resident/citizen (reaches too, though). I have seen people get rejected at 19 schools, and get into one. Just about raising odds, you see. Of course, on CommonApp, I will apply to 2 safeties (yes, there are some for intls depending on their academic credentials), 3 matches, and the rest 15 will be reaches (because most colleges that give fantastic aid to intls are reaches ).

I just finished writing my essay about something that is central to my identity. I would love any feedback and constructive criticism! Please PM me your emails.
