It has been repeatedly stated by the experts to study for the SAT with real questions or those supplied in the College Board Blue Book.

There are several books which accompany this book and provide answers and explanations to each question in the book.

Math Prep: which of the following books is recommended to be used while practicing with the college board blue book; Maximum SAT or Testmasters?

The books are as different as they could be.

Testmasters is a book that provides ONLY answers to the 8 tests published by TCB in the "Blue Book". It is an excellent book and a great value. It is however a COMPLEMENT to the Blue Book and does not contain review material, tips, or strategies.

Maximum SAT is a study guide book. The book is very well-written, and provides a guide to prepare for the SAT by using the TCB Blue Book. The book provide startegies, tips, and reviews the material you need to do well on the SAT. It does, however, provide a minimum amount of answers to the Official Study Guide.

If you can afford them, I would highly recommend to purchase both to complement the Official SAT Study Guide.

Thanks Xiggi.
One more question about Math prep. Over the past year I completed all of the bluebook with a Math tutor. My scores were consistent with the blue book range. The second time I reviewed several more exams and used Grammatix. My score dropped 50 points.

Any suggestions on how to jump start my Math prep? Should I just retake the bluebook Math sections and carefully follow Max SAT explanations, etc...? Is there another book out there that would supplement the College Board Blue Book.

October will be final shot at the SAT and I am content with my verbal and writing scores.

just a little tip...i used to think testmasters was great and i really liked the course a everything, but after a couple of my friends and I did not go up the 300 points, they did not want to give us a free course in florida until they had one for new kids, even though about 6 of the 10 students did all of the homework and qualified for the discount.
they offered email lectures and nothing more. that dissapointed me a lot so I would take that into consideration when I make my decision. It is a great class, but I just want you to know that before you take it.

I just want to add this as my 2 cents...I got an 800 math after the course but it was not because of the class, it was because of the practice. If you have the will to do it yourself then take as much practice tests from any book you can find and that will def help. I think that kaplan 1600's hard math questions helped me a lot. I havent checked out the kaplan 2400 but they say it has many errors. I would just get the harders questions and make sure you know how to do them. Good Luck

According to Xiggi, both the Maximum SAT and Testmasters are good supplements to the College board Blue Book. Guess I will take the Xigs advice that not one book is the panacea as I found found out with Grammatix which for me was a waste for the Math section.

for SAT Math definately use Barron's Math workbook for the New SAT and also get Gruber's because it has the best math strategies and also provides a list of 101 math question you should know how to solve

I was wondering if there was any difference in quality between testmaster's solutions to the blue book as compared to the online collegeboard subscription solutions to the blue book, and if so, would it be best to get both or one and which one?
