Maximum Scholarship Amount?

As the title says, does anyone know the maximum amount of merit scholarship that a student can receive from TCNJ?

I remember hearing that a few years back, they cut back on scholarships, so that that no longer give out fully rides. Can anyone confirm this too?

Thanks!

I have heard that the max. is 6500 and there are no full rides

the state is hurting this year would not be suprised that 6500 is max sounds about right S got 1500

I saw on the website reference to what I believe was a service scholarship, which says it goes up to full tuition.

Also, the letter to out-of-state students asked to apply for scholarships said they give up to $10,000. Of course, I have no idea how many or how they are chosen.

For in-state students, the maximum merit award is $6700. That amount includes the Bloustein Scholarship, which is $1000 per year. In the end it sums up to $26,800 for four years.

I was accepted last week to tcnj and im receiving 40,000 to be evenly distributed over my four years, so 10,000 a yr. People are saying this is uncommon and people who i believe have a better resume than me received only 3500. Idk why this is,but hey im not complaining. Im instate also.

rragard: I heard of someone else in my school who got this award, and honestly I’m quite confused and a little bit jealous (even though I’m happy with what I got, and it’s still far cheaper than other schools)…In terms of purely merit scholarships, $6700 is the max. Then there’s another type of scholarship that considers other areas too. From TCNJ’s website, it looks like you received the “Chairman of the Board – Board of Trustee Scholarship.”

“This scholarship is open to first-year students. Awards are based on academic ability; an assessment of talents, experience, and potential; and a holistic review of how a student might contribute to a diverse educational environment. Preference will be given to students from one of New Jersey’s Abbott School Districts, students who are traditionally underrepresented, or to students who have shown interest in an area of study that the College believes will contribute to its overall mission. Accepted candidates will automatically be considered for these scholarships, which range from $4,500 to $10,000 annually for four consecutive years as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA.”

Does this apply to you?

Yeah i also don’t understand how this whole special program works bc someone in my school who, not to be haughty, doesn’t necessarily have the stats to truly get into tcnj bio got this Gateway to Bio award with more money and a better opportunity than me. I mean i don’t really care bc i don’t really want to do a lot of research at tcnj (which the program really stresses) but seriously she got soo much more money than me and i def have better stats all around, not just like the sats and all. I was suprised the individual even got accepted into tcnj alone now bio??

gateway to bio is for minorities

yeah but do you noe if they get the same bio degree as regular bio students?

I would assume that the degree is the same, depending on which biology program they select (education, pre-med, etc). The program will basically make everything more accesible to those 10 selected students. They get stipends, research, internships and much more. It is definitely something to take advantage of, and it will look fantastic on the resume. I also was also accepted as a bio major (not positive if attending yet, but most likely), and I really wish that they considered all bio students for this golden opportunity. I am glad that research outside this program is so accessible for other students because of the smaller size of TCNJ. Regardless, I know my education in biology will be what I make of it, and I know I have to prepare my own path to grad school.

@biobabe: yes,i guess it does apply to me as I am of mixed race.
