Maximum units for Pass/No pass grading?

<p>I’m a transfer student just about to start my 4th year. Last year, I took 40 units overall, with just 4 of those units with pass/no pass grading. The requirements for L&S say that you can take “no more than one fourth of the units completed in residence at the UC Davis campus.”</p>

<p>When I graduate in June, I will have completed 79 units at UCD. Does that mean that 19.75 of those units can be taken for pass/no pass grading?</p>

<p>I just want to be sure. I’ve taken pass/no pass only for two 2-unit courses. This year, I want to use it on my 4-unit upper division electives. </p>

<p>Is it OK to take upper division electives for pass/no pass?</p>

The intent of this option is to encourage exploration in areas in which you have little or no previous experience by alleviating grading pressures. The maximum number of units graded P that will be accepted for degree credit is one third of the units completed in residence on the UC Davis campus. Consequently, at least two thirds of the units completed in residence at UC Davis and presented in satisfaction of degree requirements must be in courses taken for a letter grade.
