Maximum weighted Cal Poly SLO HS GPA?

The best I can figure it, the highest weighted GPA one can have as a HS applicant is 4.40. Is that correct?

I think it depends on the school. My son had a 4.78 and was still 11th in his class with straight A’s. In “theory” the highest would be 5.0 on his scale but i know some required classes are not offered as Honors/AP/IB.

Assuming that they calculate the same way as the UC’s, I think the highest possible is 4.0 + 8/x, where x is the number of HS classes that you report. If x = 20, then 4.4 will be the highest possible.

x will depend upon your HS school, and whether you take additional classes at your local community college. The more classes you take, the lower will be your weighted GPA.

SoCalDad2, thanks, that is they way they calculate it and they use three, not two years.

donotstress, the cal schools, both the UCs and CSUs recalculate using their own methodology. The most honors semesters you can apply is 8.

Thanks for verifying!

Yea they only take 8 semesters work of AP and honors classes. I heard it is somewhere around 4.25 weighted the maximum

It is, as SoCalDad suggested, 4.40.

and the average gpa of incoming engineers is 4.08 ugh…
