Maxwell IR

I've only recently become aware of the IR MA option. It looks to be exactly what I want to do.

I just graduated from Cornell (January 07) with majors in Econ and Asian Studies (emphasis Japan). I also completed the Falcon Japanese program, a full year (32 credit) intensive language program. I've spent a summer studying in Japan.

The problem is that other than summer jobs I don't have significant work experience. One summer I worked for a national credit union in their mortgage department, and the other I worked for one of the top rare book dealers in the country.

My GPA is 3.8. I haven't taken the GRE yet, but my SAT was 1550.

I'm looking at fall '08 for Maxwell IR.

Do I have a serious chance of getting admitted?

You look pretty good as far as GPA and your undergraduate institution is concerned.

You need to get some experience in the field though. If you can get some kind of job, full-time internship (or any kind of internship for that matter) in the field, then you should be a shoe in. If you have just graduated in January find an IR related job or internship asap so you can list that on your application when you apply. It would also be beneficial to have your supervisor at your IR-related job/internship write a recommendation for you. You should have no problems getting in though. The GRE isn't to bad, I'm sure you could do fine on that also.
