It was a lot harder than I expected..the Real SAT II blue book's French practice test is in no way similar. The two are a whole different level apart. Good luck to those who have yet to take it, can't wait till we're all done and can go over some of the questions :)

what else can you say about the test? how was it different?

Passages harder, grammar trickier. Nothing much that you can prepare for - you either know it by now or you don't.

oO... and your profile says you're fluent in French. so do you think you did well despite the fact that it was harder, or is someone like me who's only taken French in high school screwed?

And have you taken/will you take the AP test?

Yeah because of that passages were slightly easier for me. The bit I thought was difficult is the grammar - very tricky, things that people like me wouldn't normally pay attention to.

I'll be taking the AP French test next week.

Me too, but the language program in my school is notoriously bad. We had 5 kids take AP Spanish last year (3 of whom were native speakers) and all got 1's... I didn't find that out until I'd already submitted my deposit for AP French. And I have NO idea how I'll do... I don't know how the curve differs, or how strict they are in grading, or anything like that. Shudders It's Monday... I'm scared. :-P

Me too - scared as heck. Shivering in fear..but I think my school's language program is probably stronger than yours since we don't get as many 1s. All the same, I've been hunting nonstop for the breakdown of the French Language exam's curve and I haven't been able to find one.

Has anyone in your school in recent years taken it? Anyone you can ask?

Yeah, but they don't know the figures either.

How did they do?

By the way, I'm the first one to take the AP French exam since 1990 in my school... I'm taking it with just one other girl. For the past month or so, our teacher has been letting the rest of the class

We have a new teacher this year, but the stats for 2006:

AP French Language
5: 2
4: 5
3: 6
2: 6
1: 0

If all goes well, I hope to be the first to take AP French Literature at our school next year. They don't offer it here, so I'm going to be self-studying, possibly with some guidance.

oops- rest of the class run wild while she works with us one-on-one, but it still hasn't been very productive.

Your school seems to have a pretty good record. I'm sure you'll do well. :) Good luck on Monday!

Um, that doesn't seem like a good record to me. XD

But all the same, good luck to you too =)

Well, some people (albeit few) got 4's and 5's. :) That's good enough for me. :-P

Haha, i guess. I still need to find that curve..ugh.

XD I just realized I mis-typed the title. It shouldn't read the date of the exam, but the year. ****.

@ Quesce : you didn't do well in the exam ? I'm planning to take 2nd June French SAT. My French level --> i can speak very well and i can understand everything, not very strong in grammar though. What do you advise me to study in this remaining month based your test today ?
Thanks in advance !

I don't know if I did well or not, but I would advise you to study grammar - there are many things on there that you can just go with your gut because you're fluent, but because they also test grammar in detail (things that fluent speakers wouldn't pay much attention to) it gets difficult.
